Yoshinori Ohnuma
Yoshinori Ohnuma came to IIPS as a Senior Research Fellow in July 2000 from the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO). He received his Bacholor of Economics from the University of Tokyo and his MBA from Columbia University. He joined TEPCO in 1986 where he was involved in new business development. Before being seconded to IIPS, he was a deputy manager of the Corporate Planning Department. At IIPS. He will be researching energy and environmental issues.
Hiroyuki Matsuzuki
Hiroyuki Matsuzuki was seconded from the
Ministry of International Trade and Industry
(MITI) to IIPS as a Senior Research Fellow
in August. He graduated from the University
of Tokyo in 1986 and joined the ministry
the same year. From 1995 to1996, he studied
economics at the North Carolina State University.
From 1996 to 1998, he was seconded to the
prefectural government of Niigata as a director
for industrial promotion. Before joining
IIPS he served as a deputy director at the
Small Enterprises Policy Division of MITI.
Yutaka Ohama
Yutaka Ohama came to IIPS
as a Senior Research Fellow in February 1999
from Mitsui & Co., Ltd.
He received degrees in science and economics
from the University of Tokyo,
and an MBA from Stanford University. At Mitsui,
he was involved in the
company's overseas direct investments as
project manager and in-house consultant
for foreign direct investment. For the last
six years he has been a senior
economist in Mitsui's research institute.
At IIPS, he will continue research
on US-Japan relations and global trade issues.
Hiromi Yamamoto
Hiromi Yamamoto came to IIPS from the Japan
External Trade Organization (JETRO) in September
2000. She majored in law at Waseda University
and joined JETRO in 1980. She received her
MA in international relations from Sheffield
University (UK). Before coming to IIPS, she
worked at JETRO's Denver office and in the
Market Access Research Division in Tokyo.
She is a Ph.D. candidate in public affairs
at the University of Colorado (Denver, US).
While at IIPS, she will research issues related
to governance and public sector reform.
Yuji Nakamura
Yuji Nakamura was seconded to IIPS from Nippon
Steel Corporation (NSO) as a
Senior Research
Fellow in January 2001. He majored
in political
economy at Waseda University
and joined NSO
in 1981. In 1983, he was seconded
to the
Institute for International Study
and Training
(IIST). From 1984 to 1988, he
worked in the
Expo department at NSO. Before
joining IIPS,
he was responsible for line pipe
exports
for natural gas trunk lines,
mainly in Russia,
the Middle East, the North Sea
and Asia.
Whilst at IIPS, his research
will focus on
energy and environmental issues.
